Our Petrus Christmas Gift Appeal in December 2020 received over 430 presents which were donated to vulnerable children in Rochdale and around the North West in time for Christmas Day.
We also received £445 through our online campaign thanks to community support and a generous £1000 donation from Rochdale Round Table to buy further gifts and go towards providing store vouchers for children’s services to share with families.
Our previous five appeals had been through our Community Store on Hamer Lane but due to COVID-19 restrictions, we’d had to temporarily close our doors at the time.
But with the impact of COVID-19 on so many families last year, leaving hundreds of children at risk of receiving little or no gifts at Christmas, we wanted to make sure we could continue doing something to help.
So we adapted our appeal for the sixth year, going a little more virtual, and were absolutely blown away by everyone’s kindness!
We were pleased to share the gifts and vouchers with children aged newborn to 16 years from local schools such as Holy Family RC Primary School, children’s social care services and families at the domestic abuse charity Centre 56 in Liverpool.
We want to thank the following donors who contributed to the appeal:
Rochdale Borough Council for identifying and distributing the gifts to over 800 local vulnerable children.
Petrus Community Store customers, staff at M&Y Maintenance & Construction, volunteers and staff at Petrus, members of the community, staff at Regenda as well as Physiotherapy, Speech and Language, Nursing and Nutrition staff at Manchester Metropolitan University.
