In light of the current lockdown in the UK, many fundraising events that help to support thousands of charities such as ourselves have been postponed.
This includes the London Marathon that was due to take place on Sunday 26th April 2020, which Regenda Board Member Paul Roberts was set to run to raise money for Petrus.
Paul said: “I was looking forward to taking part and was raising money for Petrus, as well as Parkinson’s and Shelter UK. This would've actually been my first time running a marathon and I'd been preparing by training with my family and the dog! However, there are much bigger and important races to be run at the moment. For now, my place has been deferred to October – although I don’t think the dog will be amused to hear that!”
While there is a temporary pause on fundraising events and gatherings, we’d love for the community to support us in other ways as we continue to help some of the most vulnerable people facing homelessness and in housing need.
And here’s how you can…
Join our walking challenge and nominate your friends!
As we’re asked to stay indoors to protect one another, many of us will be limiting time outside to just going for small walks.
We’re inviting you to take part in our walking challenge – Walk a Mile in Their Shoes – and asking you to walk a mile (or more!) and then donate to us online over on our Virgin Money page https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/finalCharityHomepage.action?charityId=1018086
Walking has many great physical, mental health and wellbeing benefits, and it would be a wonderful way to help us to continue providing support and food to those in need.
So grab some water, go for a walk and click donate once you have!
Or go that one step further by nominating your friends and family to join in!
Feel free to tag us in photos or send them to us on social media of your walk or of you donating at:

If you’d like to take part, make sure you’re following Government guidance on social distancing by staying more than 2 metres from others. You can find out more on social distancing by visiting https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

Please contact us on 01706 526 289 in advance to arrange dropping off donations at our Hub (73 Great George Street, Rochdale, OL16 1QG).

Paul added: “It’s great that various fundraising events are still happening as these are key income for many charities around this time of the year.
“A big well done to everyone at Petrus, and across Regenda, as they work hard to continue supporting so many people and families during this difficult time. I hope that we keep finding innovative ways to say thank you and help others through fundraising.”
