The Homeless Alliance Response Team (HART) are partnering with Petrus to deliver evening healthcare services at our Hub from Tuesday 7th December 2021 and it's all thanks to community donations!
HART is an award-winning primary care health service delivered by qualified clinical volunteer nurses to people living transiently or experiencing homelessness in the borough.
Now that they have relocated to our Hub, they will provide:
- GP consultations
- Wound care
- Preventative medicine
- Treatment for minor ailments
- Support with GP registration within the borough
- Advice from partner agencies
- Most importantly, a friendly face to listen and talk to
The evening sessions will take place every Tuesday and Thursday, 6.15pm to 7.30pm.
You’ll find our Hub at 73 Great George Street, Rochdale, OL16 1QG
Food and drink will be available during the sessions.
We have been able to welcome HART as a permanent fixture in our healthcare room at the Hub thanks to the generosity of people in the community. Donations received from Co-op's members doing their grocery shop opting to support our charity, people sponsoring our Chair of Trustees Paul to run the London Marathon and a donation from Amazon have made this possible.
Dr Mo Jiva, Director of Rochdale Health Alliance, who runs the service, said: “It will be rewarding to be able to care for the health needs of our homeless and transient population once again and for us to be partnered with Petrus now will mean we are better connected with this client group than before.
“If you are homeless or living transiently and require primary care medical treatment, or just want to grab a bite to eat and see a friendly face please come along on Tuesday 7th December to Petrus and we will be there to help.”
A spokesperson from HART added: “We thank Petrus Community for giving us a safe space to work from and amazing staff to help support this much needed and appreciated service as well as those who use it.”
Petrus Service Lead, Liz Varey said: “We’re really pleased the HART team have joined us. They have already been delivering great results administrating COVID-19 and flu vaccinations to service users and keyworkers at our Hub, and this partnership will ensure more people in our community have access to healthcare and the support they need.”
