Meet Greater Manchester’s first & ONLY Youth Social Prescribing Worker

We’re excited to welcome Bryony to our team at Petrus – she is the first and only Youth Social Prescribing Link Worker in Greater Manchester and we’re delighted she has joined us to make a difference to the lives of young people in our region.

Hear from Bryony what her role will involve:

Hello, my name is Bryony and I have just started as a Youth Social Prescribing Link Worker at Petrus and based at Hopwood Hall College (across Rochdale and Middleton campuses).

I’m eager to build on the existing social prescribing network within Petrus and implement this in college; with a view to building resilience and mental wellbeing. I am looking to work closely with the student enrichment team to build on existing extra-curricular activities, and look at how I can support more vulnerable students to access these services.

I’m also going to be networking with local organisations to increase my awareness of the local offer for young people, which will enable me to promote these activities to the students I will work with.

I’m most looking forward to helping students find enjoyment and make their time at college more pleasant and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to building a relationship between Petrus and Hopwood Hall throughout this project, all while building students’ confidence and self-esteem in the process.

I’m very optimistic about this project and after my first day in post, I can feel the demand for this service and I can’t wait to get stuck in.
