Help us to give disadvantaged children in Rochdale and around the North West a gift this festive period by taking part in our Petrus Christmas Gift Appeal.
Over the past five years, we’ve donated nearly 2,000 presents to children aged newborn to 16 years. Last year alone, thanks to the kindness and support of people and businesses in the community, we donated 971 gifts to families who would otherwise go without on Christmas Day.
But now more than ever we need your help as this year will have had a major impact on so many families, meaning hundreds of children will receive little or no presents at Christmas.
This December our Christmas Gift Appeal is supporting local schools, Sure Start Centre, other agencies that work with children in the Rochdale borough and families at the domestic abuse charity Centre 56 in Liverpool.
How can you help?
We’re looking for new toys and presents costing between £5 and £10 for children aged newborn to 16 years old, of all genders.
In order to arrange safely sharing the gifts with the children and ensuring they undergo a 72-hour quarantine period, please get your donations to us by Friday 4th December 2020 before 3pm.
There are three ways to donate:
Drop off at our Store –
If you would like to drop off your gift donation at the Store, you will need to book an appointment. For now, drop off appointments for our Christmas Gift Appeal are available all-day Thursday and Friday but we may be able to be flexible.
Call our Store team on 01706 341189 or Store Supervisor Pam on 07587770969 (10am to 3pm, Monday – Friday) to arrange a drop off time.
Please place the gift unwrapped in a plastic bag with a tag or sticker stating the age and gender the present is suitable for to minimise handling.
You can find us at:
Petrus Community Store, Unit 1, Hamer Lane, Rochdale, OL16 2UL
Post the gift to us –
If you would like to post your gift to our Store, inside the envelope or parcel box, it will need to be unwrapped with a tag stating the age and gender the gift is for.
Send it to us at:
Petrus Community Store, Unit 1, Hamer Lane, Rochdale, OL16 2UL
Please take into consideration delivery time, so try to get it in the post a few days before Friday 4th December so it’s with us on time to share.
Online donation –
If you haven’t got the time to buy or send a gift yourself, please donate online at https://virginmoneygiving.com/fund/giftappeal and we will purchase a gift on your behalf. Feel free to share this link with your friends, family or colleagues!
A massive thank you
Our appeal may look a little differently this winter but the joy it will bring to families remains the same.
You can also help by donating rolls of wrapping paper to the Petrus Community Store.
Looking for gift inspiration?
In the past, we’ve seen that the age range that gets the least donations are teens and older children as people struggle to think of what to get them.
Here are some ideas:
- Toiletries or bath and body gifts sets
- Chocolates and sweets
- Notebooks, diaries, stationary sets
- Board games and jigsaws
- Arts and crafts
Many stores are still operating at a delivery or collection service, some supermarkets also offer in store purchases. Here’s some examples of places to shop:
