Britain in Bloom is a national gardening competition that aims to inspire local communities to make positive changes through horticultural, environmental and community action. Doesn’t that sound like someone you know!
Petrus PIER is part of Rochdale in Bloom, and we are absolutely delighted that our wonderful town received a Gold award this year and was the winner of the Small City Category!
Rachael Bennion, Social Prescribing Manager at Petrus, said: “The team at PIER are so proud to be part of the In Bloom efforts. So much hard work goes into each entry, and it’s amazing to see that awarded. PIER is a beautiful space that offers so much. From gardening-on-prescription services, foraging walks for the local community, cookery classes, green social prescribing and much more, community horticulture is good for us, it’s good for our communities and it’s great for the environment – what’s not to love about that.”
Rochdale was up against Canterbury, Bath and Burton in the Small City Category, and stood out for their work in using Bloom as a vehicle for inclusion and diversity.
A quote from In Bloom said: “Rochdale in Bloom are instrumental in creating safe green spaces for all to use.”
