We’re celebrating our wondering volunteers today, in a thank you event to show our appreciation for everything they do.
Held at Petrus PIER, this event will welcome 25 volunteers from Petrus and six volunteers from The Skill Mill, a social enterprise which provides employment opportunities for young people in horticulture services.
Some of our volunteers have been busy making decorations and bunting for the celebration, and we’ll share our many successes and thank everyone for their highly valued contributions in what has been one of our most challenging years for us all.
Petrus volunteers do incredible work, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. From working on health and wellbeing projects to building an award-winning garden at RHS Tatton Park, there’s nothing our brilliant people can’t do!
Leslie volunteers at Petrus PIER and has this to say about his experience: “PIER is a place where I can go to relax in light of the ongoing pandemic. It’s been really good for my mental health.”
Rachael Bennion, Petrus Service Manager, said: “Many of our volunteers have previously accessed Petrus services after experiencing or being at risk of experiencing homelessness. Despite the personal challenges they have had to overcome, they do amazing things for our communities. Volunteers often say that Petrus is like family. Through volunteering, they have created a collaborative and caring support network where each person feels valued, safe and has the opportunity to thrive.”
