The Empowerment Garden - Terraced Garden Category 2023
In 2023, we entered the Terraced Garden category at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park. The Empowerment Garden was designed and created by volunteers, service users and staff at Petrus and centres around how people can be empowered and unified through horticulture.
Focusing on biophilia, the tendency to interact or be closely associated with other forms of life in nature, strengthening our connections to food and how it’s grown is something we can all relate to and benefit from.
It empowers us by improving our health and well-being through nature connectivity, physical activity and access to fresh produce while increasing opportunities to take ownership of the environment around us, contribute to positive climate action and live more sustainable, healthier lives.
The garden received a Silver Medal from the RHS Judges, fantastic recognition of the hard work of all of our staff, service users and volunteers.
The garden was kindly sponsored by M&Y Maintenance and Construction, Eric Wright Charitable Trust, Garden 360 and PDS Doorsets.
M&Y have supported our annual journey to Tatton Park since the start. They have 45 years experience building and repairing homes for and are a profit-for-purpose company, investing profits into the communities they work within.
